It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have been successfully scaled.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has won it all.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the young family member of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the final and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this century was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it's been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you take the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

When she was out Australia needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - a manageable total now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the assurance to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed thoughts of retirement, this tournament is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her final mountain.
